What is RV Consignment?

RV consignment, like other types of consignment, involves an agreement between two parties in which one person is selling another's property - in this case an RV - for a fee. You are the co-signer, the party who has an RV they want help selling. NIRVC is the consignee, the party in charge of selling the motorhome. Even though you turn your RV over to us to sell, you still maintain ownership of your motorhome until a buyer is found and the sale is complete.

RV Consignment with NIRVC

When you use NIRVC's consignment program, we are your personal partner and guide – which allows you to remove yourself from the obstacles of what is often a tedious and tiresome selling process. By using our resources, reach and strategy, your RV will be professionally marketed and maintained to help sell your coach quickly and efficiently.

Once you contact NIRVC - either by completing the form below or giving us a call - you'll be paired with one of our Consignment Specialists who will generate an RV consignment contract. During this time, we'll work together to outline the pricing and the timeline.

Once your RV is sold and NIRVC has received payment, you will receive your money via cashiers' check or wire transfer – typically within a few business days.

Benefits of RV Consignment at NIRVC

NIRVC simplifies the RV selling process. Additionally, when purchasing a pre-owned RV, buyers need added support that is hard to offer in “for sale by owner” situations. If a potential motorhome buyer wants to trade in their current RV, seeks to finance their purchase or wants to purchase an extended warranty, these are conveniences we can offer them at NIRVC.

Not being able to offer these services reduces your potential market, increasing the time and effort you'd have put into selling your RV. It also has the potential to decrease your selling price, too.

Additionally, when you participate in the Consignment Program at NIRVC, you have the added marketing power, sales staff, maintenance and repair services and legal support for the paperwork involved in selling a motorhome.

Our value system accounts for unique and customized RVs, ensuring we can account for higher values whenever possible.

Why should I consign my RV with NIRVC?

Consigning your RV is a great way to get the best of both worlds - you can "sell by owner" but with the added dealer services buyers are looking: trade-ins, financing and warranties. Plus, it's likely you'll receive a higher price for your RV as NIRVC takes care of the marketing, showing, cleaning and paperwork to eliminate these hassles for you.

Our vast dealer-network gives you options. Working with these high-quality dealerships facilitates simplicity in your transaction - at a price you'll be pleased with. Additionally, working with NIRVC allows sellers and buyers alike to qualify for tax credits, while buyers can also receive more attractive financing.

What types of RVs do you accept for consignment?

We typically accept model year 2012 and newer gas and diesel Class A, Class B and Class C motorhomes. If your RV doesn't fit into one of these categories, still feel free to contact us and we'll try our very best to accommodate.

Why don't you take RVs over 10 years old?

There are several reasons for this. Bank financing gets complicated on coaches over 10 years old. This makes the loan more expensive and less attractive to buyers.

Models that are older than 10 years begin to encounter problems in a few key areas. Finding replacement parts becomes difficult, given the advancements in technology. Extended service plans are no longer relevant or at minimum, difficult to secure, and even manufacturer schematics are difficult to acquire, making it tough to work on. This affects the financing as well, making it more expensive to a prospective buyer. At NIRVC, our goal is to provide top-level service experience for both buyer and seller.

Why will you take my RV on trade but not on Consignment?

Generally speaking, there are fewer restrictions on trade-ins than consignment. We have a wholesale network that provides additional avenues for sales, thereby offering a wider total audience.

NIRVC handling your trade is generally tax advantageous to you in most jurisdictions that only tax the net trade value of your purchase. If you find your own buyer, however, we have an "In & Out" program specifically designed to protect your sales tax credit where we combine your sale to your buyer with your purchase from us.

How long does it take to complete the sale?

While there is no way to accurately predict buyer's interest in your RV, we do our best to market your RV and move it as quickly as possible.

How will I receive my money upon sale?

We can pay with a cashiers' check or wire transfer to your bank.

What paperwork is needed to complete the process?

We will provide all the needed paperwork including a complete set of copies for your own records. We will need a copy of your drivers' license and your spouse's drivers' license (if applicable). If your RV title has a lien on it, we will need all your loan information.

My title is in my husband's name and mine. My husband passed away. What will you need?

We would just need a copy of the death certificate.

My RV is titled in a Limited Liability Corporation. What will you need?

If your RV is titled in an LLC or company name, we will need a copy of your articles of organization to verify you can sign for the entity. We will also need a copy of your drivers' license.

My title is in a trust. What will you need?

We will need a copy of your trust stating that you are the trustee. We will also need a copy of your drivers' license.

What if my RV has a broken windshield or other damage?

We can handle most repairs ourselves and deal directly with your insurance company, if you would prefer. Please save yourself from having any issues during the consignment process by being upfront about any damage your RV has.

We love the couch (or recliner, or TV, etc.) in our RV and would like to remove it before we consign with you. Is that OK?

We would prefer all original equipment stay with the RV, but if you insist on taking something out, please let us know and we will adjust the price accordingly.

What if I have lost my title?

We can help you apply for a duplicate title, but we cannot consign your RV until you have received the duplicate title.
